Compared to last week: All classes traded steady with moderate demand. Retail
hay is in high demand due to lack of hay in barns this year. According to the
NASS Crop Production Annual Report 1/12/18, California Hay Harvested for 2017
was 1,100,000 vs 1,220,00 in 2016 and yield per acre for 2018 was 5.48 vs 5.57
for 2016. Surrounding states (Oregon, Utah, Arizona and Nevada) had no change
in arces, but over-all for the United States acres increased from 36,596,000 to
37,221,000. Hay is reported FOB the stack or barn unless otherwise noted.
Regions are defined at bottom of report.
