Compared to last week: Hay prices sold generally steady to 10.00
lower. Producers looking to sell excess loads were willing to take
lower money in order to finish selling last year’s crop if they wished
to do so. Demand was light to moderate and hay is selling on slow
to moderate market activity. Many producers are looking to next
years harvest as dry land fields look mostly good. Warm weather
and scattered rain showers have help spur alfalfa growth, and
fields look good across much of the state. No new crop contract
prices have been seen, however discussions about prices are starting
to be made. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB unless otherwise
noted.
