Compared to last week: All classes traded steady with very good demand.
According to the NASS Crop Progress Report 6/04/18, as an upper level ridge of
high pressure moved across the state, dry and warm conditions prevailed from
Monday into late Tuesday. With the passage of the upper level ridge, an upper
level trough moved through midweek which brought cooler temperatures to the
state. In the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada, isolated showers and
thunderstorms developed in association with the passing of the trough. Leading
into the weekend, a warming trend developed as the trough of low pressure made
way for a ridge of high pressure. Temperature highs for the week ranged in the
70s to 80s in the mountains, 60s to 100s along the coast, 90s to 100s in the
valley, and 90s to 110s in the desert. Temperature lows for the week ranged in
the 30s to 40s in the mountains, in the 40s to 50s in the valley, 40s to 50s
along the coast, and 40s to 70s in the desert. Hay is reported FOB the stack or
barn unless otherwise noted. Regions are defined at bottom of report.
