Week ending Nov 08, 2019
Compared to last alfalfa on the eastern side of the state sold steady
to 5.00 higher. Other reporting areas traded steady on the week. Demand
was moderate for local sales with good demand noted on hay leaving the
state. Some farmers have had problems with sugar beet harvest this fall
as temps dropped below freezing causing damage to the beet. Farmers
continue to pick corn with some reports test weights are lower than the
standard 56 lbs per bushel. Few, hay producers are waiting for their
final cutting of alfalfa to dry out so they can bale it. Note: “All
prices are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise
noted.”
