Market was steady to strong with limited sales and dry conditions in Midwest. With dry weather, first crop was good quality, but short on yield. Straw prices are for oat, barley, or wheat straw. Limited supply at the auctions. Small square bales averaged $4.70 a bale (range of $4.00 to $7.00). Large square bale straw averaged $50.00 per bale (a range of $30.00 to $80.00). Large round bale straw averaged $85.00 per bale (one sale of $85.00).
In Nebraska, hay market was steady on a light test. Demand is less than a year ago.
In South Dakota, Prices are steady. Good demand for new crop.
In Missouri, demand is good, supply is limited, and prices are firm.
In Kansas, god demand with steady prices and slow trade activity.
In Wisconsin, prices for hay are steady to strong. Dry weather and lower yields have concerned farmers as hay supplies tighten in the state.
