Weekly Texas Hay Report

Compared to last report: Most hay classes sold steady to weak.
Movement was slow as hay only trickles onto the market this time of year
with the wait for new crop about a month away. The Panhandle is turning
green but supplemental feeding continues but slowing down. The Coastal
Bermuda producers in the north and east are having a difficult time
getting into their fields due to rain so cutting new crop may be delayed
this year. South Texas are no longer supplemental feeding and starting
to cut first cutting of the year. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per
ton except where noted.

The Texas Department of Agriculture has Hay and Grazing phone set
up for Buyers and sellers looking for hay or grazing; the number is 1-

Iowa Hay Summary

Week Ending Apr 5, 2019
An increase in the variety of forage products was available all week long
across the state. Top quality alfalfa continues to demand top dollar and
some producers are willing to buy it. Forages that were considered more
middle of the range in quality saw prices drift lower. These lower prices
may have been a function of an increase in the amount of these forages
available as Iowa saw an uptick in the hay that had been stored outside.
Bedding still brought premium prices.

Oregon Weekly Hay Report

Compared to Mar 29: Prices trended generally steady compared to last
report's prices. Retail/Stable type hay remains the most demanded hay.
Almost all feeder hay qualities are sold out, so customers needing feeder
hay have been forced to purchase higher qualities. All sales in this
report are 2018 crop year hay. Many growers are sold out for this crop
year.

Compared to last week, trade activity and demand light. According to the
U.S. Drought Monitor’s High Plains summary for April 2, 2019, aside from a

Nebraska Hay Summary

Week Ending April 05, 2019

Compared to last week alfalfa and grass hay sold steady. Sun-cured
alfalfa pellets 10.00 higher. Ground and delivered mostly steady, with
the western side of the state trading 3.00 higher. Demand was mostly
good, some contacts stated the phone wasn’t quite as busy this week from
prospective buyers looking for hay. Road conditions continue to be
problematic for some areas across the state. Very few producers have
tried to bale cornstalks this week. Most of these bales are poor quality
but they should be able to grind them. Several reports that hay grinders
having a hard time moving product through their machines from the result
of bales are extremely wet. Many hope that warm temps will arrive soon to
help annual forages grow and dry out boggy areas. Some producers, or
people involved with agriculture within state and out of state have been
very generous in donating hay to various locations across Nebraska. For
drop off locations or help ideas, please visit the following link on the
