Compared to Jul 20: Prices trended generally steady compared to last
week prices. Retail/Stable type hay remains the most demanded hay.
Demand for export hay has slowed since last report. Rains in the growing
areas created a large supply rain damaged hay. All sales in this report are
2018 crop year hay, unless noted by Old Crop.

Missouri Weekly Hay Summary
Week ending 08/03/2018 The latest drought monitor currently has near 32 percent of the state in severe (D2) or extreme (D3) status basically unchanged from last week. The total percent of the state listed as abnormally dry or officially in some stage of drought climbed to right at 95 percent, a near 10 percent increase over the previous week. Although some areas are seeing some green from recent moisture the drought is sure nowhere near over. Many cattle producers are feeding at least some hay as grass has just run out. Hay supplies are light and farmers have fingers crossed that maybe there is a possibility for some fall growth still. Demand is very good a few farmers are finding some hay locally but most are having to truck hay in from other states. Hay prices are steady to firm. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
