Colorado Hay Report

   Compared to last week, trade activity light on good demand.  Southwest 
Colorado grass hay producers are reporting that they will only have one cutting 
available to market this year resulting in the current price spike.  Hay 
shortages across the state have also seen prices continuing to firm on horse 
quality hay.  The NASS Colorado Crop progress report for week ending July 29, 
2018, stored feed supplies were rated 9 percent very short, 29 percent short, 61 
percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.  2nd cutting alfalfa progress is at 71 
percent, 3rd cutting 10 percent.  Pasture and range conditions percentages are 
24 percent Very Poor, 22 percent Poor, 24 percent Fair, 28 percent Good, and 2 
percent Excellent.  The next available report will be Thursday, August 9, 2018.  
All prices reported are FOB at the stack or barn unless otherwise noted.  Prices
