Week ending August 17, 2018 Compared to last week baled hay sold steady, pellets sold higher. Demand was good for small square bales going to horse owners in several states, moderate demand from feedlots, dairies and from producers that had been hit by hail. Most of the state continues to look green for this time of year and many producers aren’t concerned right now about procuring hay for their winter needs. According to the NASS Wyoming Crop Progress and Condition report, 2nd cutting alfalfa is 70% harvested across the state. All prices are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted. Eastern Wyoming Alfalfa: Good/Premium large squares 175.00; Good large squares 160.00; Fair large squares 150.00.
