Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 9,525/5,617 Last week: 9,588/5,950 Last year: 8,973/6,253
Hay market trade is slow and prices remain steady. We are starting to feel like
a broken record, as we prepare for another round of winter weather. Another
winter storm is setting up to move across the state again this week, and once
again, temperatures are predicted to warm up over the weekend. The snow and mud
has sure been making it difficult to move that hay. According to the U.S.
Drought Monitor, abnormal dryness (D0) increased slightly to 24 pct, moderate
drought (D1) decreased to 5 pct, and severe drought (D2) remained at 4 pct. If
you have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the services
of the Internet Hay Exchange: www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
