Weekly Texas Hay Report

   Compared to last report:  Hay trades are mostly steady to firm.  
Winter weather blanketed the Panhandle on Tuesday and into Wednesday with 
some areas reporting up to 5 inches of snow.  The precipitation was 
welcomed as it will give a much-needed boost to the winter wheat crop.  
According to the Texas Crop and Weather Report, South and West Texas 
remain very dry.  As a result, grazing is very scarce in both regions and 
supplemental feeding is in full swing.  Fieldwork in the North and East 
was halted due to excess moisture in the form of soaking rains, this also 
slowed the hay trade in these regions as producers are having a hard time 
loading out customers due to mud.
