Weekly Montana Hay Report

Compared to the last week: Alfalfa hay sold fully steady. Demand 
for squares to ship east continues to be mostly good. Hay to ship
north to Canada was more active this week after being out of the 
market for the last month or two. Ranchers continue to buy hay 
in rounds on an as need basis. Several large old crop sales were
seen this week all at steady prices. Heavy snow helped increase
demand for feeding hay this week as many locations saw 10 or more
inches fall this week. Straw sold steady on good demand. All prices 
are dollars per ton and FOB unless otherwise noted.
