Wyoming Hay Summary

Week ending January 10, 2020

Compared to last week reported hay sales sold steady to firm. Most of
the contacts in Eastern part of the state are sold out of hay. There are
some low testing RFV squares still on the market. Most contacts in the
Western side of the state have a few bales of most of the classified hay
left to sell. Some hay is getting sold on internet or video sales and
those prices are not included in this report. Seasonal weather across
most of the reporting regions. Next week an arctic blast is in the
forecast and livestock owners will have to feed more than normal amounts
of feed to livestock. Cold weather will start to deplete some hay piles
and buyers may have to buy more hay. Some producers continue to wait on
trucks to haul hay to out of state buyers. “All prices are dollars per
ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted.”
