Kansas Hay Market Report

Ground alfalfa movement:        Southwest/South Central

Hay market activity, both movement and trade, is light due to limited supply. 
Demand remains very good for both grinding alfalfa and grass hay. Prices for 
alfalfa stayed mostly steady, while grass hay edged higher. According to the 
U.S. Drought Monitor, with little or no precipitation, Kansas saw another week 
of growing deficits.  Extreme drought conditions are common in southwest and 
central portions of the state and have expanded northeastward. The abnormally 
dry (D0) category is at 97 pct, moderate drought (D1) is at 82 pct, severe 
drought (D2) is at 56 pct, extreme drought (D3) is at 26 pct and exceptional

Southwest Kansas  
Dairy alfalfa, grass hay, grinding alfalfa, ground/delivered steady; movement
