Week Ending July 17, 2020
Compared to last week, all reported forages sold mostly steady on a
light test. Buyer inquiry is good but not many sales taking place. Most
buyers are tire kickers or price shoppers as they are trying to make a
plan to buy hay down the road. Hail in some areas of the state leaving a
large mark of destruction on numerous acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa,
other forages and structures in its path. Some grass hay producers have
been across some hay meadows they have not hayed in a couple of years.
Rains have been very spotty across the state. Most areas could use a nice
general rain especially on dryland crops and pastures. Note: “All sales
are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.”
