OKLAHOMA HAY MARKET REPORT

Alfalfa movement remains slow on limited offerings and light to moderate demand. Demand for dairy hay extremely limited. Grass hay movement and demand also mostly light except for hay donated to producers in northwest Oklahoma affected by severe wildfires. So far about 350,000 acres have burned in northwest Oklahoma and fires continue to be uncontained in many areas. Rains are forecast for the weekend and firefighters hope this brings relief. Many cattle have died in these fires and producers have been forced to euthanize many more that were badly burned or too overcome by smoke to recover.

Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepageat www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at 1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
