Alfalfa movement very slow on light supplies and limited demand. An undetermined amount of dry cow and grinding alfalfa have been donated to portions of northwestern Oklahoma and southern Kansas affected by recent wildfires. Most donated hay has been grass, wheat and oat hay. Dairy demand remains extremely light. Alfalfa growers have been spraying fields for a few weeks and are preparing equipment for first cutting. Wildfires in Oklahoma are about 75 percent contained at the time of this report but more warm and windy weather forecast for the week may hamper firefighters. Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at 1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Prices mostly steady in extremely limited trading.
