Hay movement was at a near standstill over most of the state this week as rain continued and field work was put on hold. Some alfalfa was on the ground when rains began again but most producers had held off swathing. Some of this first cutting will be too mature for dairy or horse hay buyers. Demand is moderate for dairy alfalfa and light to moderate for other offerings. Alfalfa yields are expected to be average to above average in much of central and western Oklahoma. Some early grass hay swathing was reported in southeastern Oklahoma but no sales were confirmed. Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at 1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Few loads Supreme quality new crop confirmed last week 140.00- 150.00.
