Compared to last week: Hay prices sold fully steady. The majority of producers have sold out of hay and little trade is occurring. Demand for hay was light on light supplies and movement. Grass hay sold steady on very light sales volume. This week National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released its monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates on Wednesday and this report showed US hay supplies as of May 1st (the beginning of the crop year) at 24.4 million tons a 750,000 ton or 3% decrease from 2016. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB unless otherwise noted.
