Missouri Weekly Hay Summary

Week ending 05/11/2018

Another week of good progress in the state. Many farmers have completed
corn planting and are now switching to soybeans. Hay cutting has also
began for some with a few fields of alfalfa cut, as well as some hay being
cut and wrapped. Warmer temperatures have been very welcomed, but with that
also comes an increased need of a good rain, especially for areas which were
already extremely dry in the northern part of the state. These areas aren’t
really sure there will be any hay to cut without some moisture. Hay supplies
are light to moderate, demand is light to moderate and prices are steady.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for
both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory visit
