Alfalfa trading and movement remains extremely light. Demand for alfalfa is good but supplies are exhausted and buyers are waiting for new crop. Grass hay movement was light to moderate with supplies of good quality grass hay becoming very light. Wheat hay swathing will be underway in the coming week to 10 days and first cutting of alfalfa within the next two weeks. Yields of both wheat and first cutting alfalfa expected to be much lighter than average. The year's first severe weather including tornadoes hit the state on Wednesday but unfortunately brought little rain to the areas in greatest need of moisture. Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at 1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Premium quality large square bales last confirmed sales 165.00-180.00.
