Week Ending July 19, 2019
Compared to last reported market, alfalfa sold steady to weak. Dehy
pellets sold steady in Eastern/Central and Platte Valley, Western
Nebraska sold 40.00 lower. Ground and delivered to feedlots fully
steady. Demand was light for rounds bales and ground hay with mostly
moderate demand for large squares going to dairies. Spotty rain showers
have hindered producer’s ability to put up high quality hay in many
locations as many producers report large quantities of rained on hay.
This has softened the hay market for lower quality alfalfa. Hay movement
remains slow as many producers are busy with both first and second cuttings.
Note: “All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless
otherwise noted.”
