Week ending 4/24/20
Several acres of hay have been cut and wrapped the last couple of weeks.
Farmers are slowly getting back in fields and starting some planting now
too. As of early this week about 11 percent of the corn crop was planted
but no doubt that number has climbed this week. Temperatures have been
running below normal parts of north Missouri even had snow cover late
last week. These cooler temperatures have slowed the growth of pastures
and hay fields, some warm sunshine would be more than welcome. The
supply of hay is moderate, demand is light, and prices are steady to
weak. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory
directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay
