Most hay prices steady

In Nebraska and the East River area of South Dakota, grass hay and ground hay sold fully steady. Dehydrated alfalfa pellets sold mostly steady to $5 lower on the top side of the market. Demand is light to moderate within the state, according to the USDA Market News Service, June 30. Prices given on per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/central—Premium new crop alfalfa, large squares, $135-$155; good, rounds, $70-$80. Good old crop, large squares, $120-$130, large rounds, $60-$70. In Montana, hay prices sold mostly sharply higher, with most sales $10-$15 higher. Sales are all new crop hay unless otherwise noted. Demand for all hay is good to very good on light supplies. Montana will be released by-weekly until early August when heavier receipts can be confirmed.
