Week Ending July 28, 2017 Compared to last week round bales of alfalfa sold steady to 10.00 higher, square bales steady. Grass hay sold steady to 10.00 higher. Ground and delivered hay steady. Dehy alfalfa pellets sold steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for all classes of available forage. Some areas of the state received rain this week and other areas remain very dry. With the recent rains, on already cut hay meadows, will help “after-grass” growth so ranchers should have additional grazing later this fall and should cut down on the need to purchase hay. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted. Eastern/Central Nebraska Alfalfa: Premium large square bales 180.00. Good large square bales 150.00, Fair large square bales 105.00-110.00. Good large round bales 80.00-85.00, some sales at 90.00-115.00 delivered. Alfalfa/Orchard Grass: Good large round bales 90.00. Grass Hay: Good to Premium large square bales 115.00. Good large round bales 80.00-90.00, Premium small square bales 150.00. Dehy Alfalfa pellets 17 percent protein 185.00- 210.00.
