Colorado Hay Report

   Compared to last week, prices were steady.  Activity light and demand good in 
all classes.  The USDA NRCS National Water and Climate Center’s Colorado SNOTEL 
Snow/Precipitation Update Report for Thursday, December 07, 2017 has the 
Gunnison River Basin Snow Water Equivalent at 45%, the Upper Colorado River 
basin at 64%, the South Platte River Basin at 81%, the Laramie and North Platte 
River Basins at 87%, the Yampa and White River Basins at 75%, the Arkansas River 
Basin at 63%, the Upper Rio Grande Basin at 40% and the San Miguel, Dolores, 
Animas and San Juan River Basins at 26% as a percent of the median of all SNOTEL 
sites in each basin compared to previous years.  All prices reported are FOB at 
the stack or barn unless otherwise noted.  Prices reflect load lots of hay.  If 
you have hay for sale or need hay, use the services of the Colorado Department 
of Agriculture website: www.coloradoagriculture.com.

Northeast Colorado Areas
  Alfalfa
   Large Squares: Premium 245.00; Good 212.00, small lot. 
   Small Squares: Premium 289.00 (8.25 per bale).
  Orchard Grass
   Small Squares: Premium 310.00-341.00 (9.00-9.75 per bale), small lot.
   No reported quotes for all other classes of hay.
  Alfalfa/Orchard
   Large Squares: Premium 245.00. 

Southeast Colorado Areas
  Alfalfa
   Small Squares: Supreme 220.00-230.00 (6.75-7.00 per bale); Good 190.00 (6.00   
   per bale).
  Grass
   Small Squares: Premium 253.00 (6.75 per bale), retail.
  Triticale
   Large Squares: Good 120.00.
  Sorghum Sudan
   Round Bales: Good 75.00.

San Luis Valley Area
