Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

Compared to last week: All classes of hay mostly steady, limited
reported volume again this week. Demand moderate to good as inquiry
has been reported to be improving as more hay users are looking to
secure their hay needs. Winter storm moved across the area on Monday
bringing a couple of inches of snow to the state, open grazing
conditions still exist however. Warmer weather forecasted for the
weekend which should melt what little snow there is. Cattle producers
in the central and western part of the state are short of hay but
the lack of cold and snowy weather is helping them to stretch their
hay supplies. All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise
noted.
