Missouri Weekly Hay Summary

Over all total area of the state showing on the drought monitor is about even 
with last week with near 75 percent of the state in some stage of drought. The 
severity of dryness continues to worsen each week however with the severe 
category now reported at near 24 percent. There was a cold front that brought 
some rain and even the year’s first snowflakes to some parts of the state but 
neither was enough to provide any helpful moisture. The front did bring below 
average freezing temperatures with wind chills in the single digits. Feeding is 
increasing each day now although several in the driest parts of the state have 
been feeding a while already. Hay movement is slow, supplies are moderate, 
demand is light and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture
