Week Ending December 29, 2017 Compared to last week alfalfa and grass hay sold unevenly steady. Dehy alfalfa pellets sold mostly steady, instances 5.00 higher. Ground and delivered hay sold steady. Demand was slow for most offerings of baled hay and moderate to good for ground and delivered hay. Some users of ground products are stocking up this week due to the New Year’s holiday and preparing for the bitter cold this weekend. Some cattlemen are supplementing cows out on stalks was there is light snow on the ground and cold temperatures prevailing. Some ranchers continue to purchase alfalfa and grass hay for winter feeding needs. Quite a lot of dehy pellets continue to move across the state and into large feed mills for regrinding into other livestock feeds. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!
