Week Ending Friday December 14, 2017
For this week: Hay prices were mostly steady to spot instances lower. Demand was
mostly moderate to instances good on higher quality hay. Looking forward temperatures
continue in the 40's next week for the high and the 20's for a low.
According to the Drought Monitor D1-D4 drought conditions increased slightly from
6.70% to 7.39% this week. D0-D4 drought conditions,which includes (Abnormally Dry
as D0), increased significantly from 38.94% to 53.09% this week. The abnormally
dry conditions in Iowa crept into the north central region of Iowa this week. It has been
extremly dry since early to mid-October, which has resulted in dry surface conditions.
