Nebraska Hay Summary

Week Ending December 15, 2017

  Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay and ground and delivered hay 
sold steady.  Dehy alfalfa pellets in Eastern Nebraska steady to 10.00 
higher; Platte Valley area steady to 5.00 higher sold steady. Demand was 
moderate to good for most offerings of baled hay. Some producers continue 
to make cornstalk bales between very light dustings of snow and light 
rain on Thursday.  All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay 
barn, unless otherwise noted.

Eastern/Central Nebraska
Alfalfa: Good to Premium large square bales 150.00-175.00. Premium large 
round bales 100.00-110.00. Good large round 85.00-90.00.  Alfalfa/Orchard 
Grass: Premium large square bales 165.00. Grass Hay: Good large square 
bales 90.00. Premium large round bales 85.00-90.00; Good large round 
bales 80.00-85.00; fair large rounds 60.00-70.00. Premium small square 
bales of prairie hay 150.00. Cornstalk bales 50.00-55.00. Soybean stubble 
round bales 45.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 115.00.  Dehy Alfalfa 
pellets 17 percent protein 195.00-230.00. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets 15 
percent protein 190.00, 17 percent protein 195.00. 

Platte Valley area of Nebraska
Alfalfa: Fair to Good large square bales 155.00. Good large round bales 
85.00-90.00; fair large round bales 60.00. Grass Hay: Large round bales 
90.00-100.00; fair large round bales 55.00-60.00. Cane Hay large round 
bales 65.00-70.00. Oat hay in large round bales 85.00. Cornstalk bales
