Idaho Weekly Hay Report

Tons: 9900 Last Week: 11,900 Last Year: 50,500

Compared to last Friday, all grades of Alfalfa steady. Alfalfa testing over
185 RFV is hard to find due to weather conditions. Demand remains good especially
for high testing Alfalfa and Orchard Grass and Alfalfa mix. Demand light for
feeder hay. Fires on BLM land this summer where ranchers winter their cattle will
use up most of the unsold feeder hay this winter. Timothy for export has been
committed to but no price has been determined yet. While demand has turned light
on even premium quality horse and dairy Timothy, demand for lesser quality Timothy
for export is very light. The large carryover of old crop Timothy from last year
and lower prices have created an atmosphere of caution with overseas buyers.
Retail/Feed store steady. Prices are dollars per ton and FOB the farm or ranch
unless otherwise stated.
