Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central

Hay market trade and demand was slow to moderate, prices remained steady for
the most part and the market seems to be settling down. The words that were
conveyed the most last week were "HOT" and "DRY". Indeed, the state could use
a good soaking rain. The south central and southeast regions received a
sprinkle but not enough to do any real good. According to the U.S. Drought
Monitor, abnormal dryness developed in approximately 25 counties of central
Kansas, where short-term precipitation deficits were developing. This is the
first time we have seen precipitation deficits since the last week of

Southwest Kansas
