**DUE TO THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY, THE NEXT REPORT WILL BE ISSUED SEPTMEBER 10TH**
Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 8,624/6,431 Last week: 8,497/8,429 Last year: No Report
Hay market trade was slow to moderate, demand was moderate, and prices remained
steady. Areas in southwest Kansas remained hot and dry last week, while the
east and southeast part of the state continued to see rain. The landscape in
the east is unusually green for this time of year, especially in the Flint
Hills, but there is still prairie hay to bale and the rain makes that difficult.
According to the U.S. drought monitor, the abnormally dry category remained
unchanged at 23 pct while moderate drought was at 1.42 pct. If you have any
extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the services of the
Internet Hay Exchange: www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
