The NASS Colorado Crop Progress and Condition report for the week ending November 5, 2017 states that a reporter noted that lack of moisture continues to be a problem for rangeland conditions in northeast counties. Pasture and Range conditions were rated 2 percent very poor, 17 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 44 percent good, and 14 percent excellent. Alfalfa crop progress for fourth cutting was rated at 76 percent complete. Stored feed supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 4 percent short, 81 percent adequate, and 14 percent surplus. The USDA NRCS National Water and Climate Center’s Colorado SNOTEL Snow/Precipitation Update Report for Thursday, November 9, 2017 has the Gunnison River Basin Snow Water Equivalent at 55%, the Upper Colorado River basin at 88%, the South Platte River Basin at 117%, the Laramie and North Platte River Basins at 127%, the Yampa and White River Basins at 128%, the Arkansas River Basin at 90%, the Upper Rio Grande Basin at 64% and the San Miguel, Dolores, Animas and San Juan River Basins at 41% as a percent of the median of all SNOTEL sites in each basin compared to previous years.
