Compared to last week, prices were mostly steady with demand moderate in all regions. According to the United States Drought Monitor, cold weather and light precipitation (about 0.5 inches or less) occurred across most of the High Plains region, including light snow blanketing parts of the Dakotas and northern Nebraska. The combination of subnormal temperatures and light precipitation was enough to keep conditions from deteriorating, but not enough for improvement. The NASS Wyoming Crop Progress and Condition report for the week ending November 5, 2017 stated pasture and range condition rated 4 percent very poor, 18 percent poor, 38 percent fair, 38 percent good, and 2 percent excellent. Alfalfa third cutting is 95 percent complete. The NASS Nebraska Crop Progress and Condition Report for the week ending November 5, 2017 states pasture and range condition rated 3 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 43 percent fair, 38 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. The NASS South Dakota Crop Progress and Condition Report for the week ending November 9, 2017 states that pasture and range condition rated 28 percent very poor, 24 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 21 percent good, and 1 percent excellent.
