Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

   Compared to last week:  Prices continue to hold mostly steady to firm for all 
classes of hay.  Demand moderate to good for all classes of hay.  Interest 
continues to pick up, as many feedlots are starting to get calves into their 
yards and are in need of grass and grinding alfalfa for their rations.  All hay 
and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.

   Alfalfa:  Supreme: Small Squares, 6.50 per bale (220.00 per ton).  Premium:  
Large Squares, 160.00-185.00; Small Squares, 6.00 per bale.  Good:  Large 
Squares, 150.00-165.00. Fair:  Large Rounds, 115.00-125.00.  Utility:  Large 
Squares, 100.00.

   Sun-cured Alfalfa pellets:  No trades reported.

   Alfalfa/Grass Mix:  Premium: Large Squares, 150.00.  Good: Large Rounds, 
110.00.

   Grass:  Good:  Large Rounds, 120.00. Fair: Large Rounds, 110.00-125.00

   Millet Hay:  No trades reported.

   Wheat Straw:  Large Squares, 100.00-115.00.  

   Bean Straw:  No trades reported.

   Cornstalks:  Large Rounds, 40.00, 60.00 Del on a short haul.
