Kansas Hay Market Report

Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 9,262/5,765 Last week: 9,245/5,987 Last year: 10,093/5,108

Hay market trade slow; alfalfa prices remain steady. No new hay sales
reported, deliveries are primarily on previously contracted hay. Producers
reported getting some much-needed fieldwork completed ahead of the windy and
warm conditions over the weekend. Rain moved in for a good portion of the
state, Sunday into Monday, putting an end to that fieldwork. Producers also
reported significant populations of army cut worms showing up in alfalfa and
wheat fields. The U.S. Drought Monitor indicated that abnormal dryness (D0)
remained at 8 pct, moderate drought (D1) remained at 4 pct, and severe
drought (D2) remained at 2 pct. If you have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay
