Alfalfa and hay trade movement continues very slow and much of the hay
trade remains steady. Most of the Alfalfa quoted at the top of the price
ranges, had to be flawless. Milk prices declined in the past week, after
making some good advances. These declines are reducing the demand for
Alfalfa hay. Producers are about a month and a half away from new crop
hay and hoping markets will have come back to some sort of normalcy.
According to the U.S Drought Monitor and the Oklahoma Mesonet, much of
the state is in good shape as far as moisture. Only the far western tip
of the panhandle and the southwest portion of the state show abnormally
dry to moderate drought with only a small section in severe drought.
Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-
state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF
homepage at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are
encouraged to call at 1-405-521-3864 or emailOklahomaCity.LPGMN@usda.gov.
