Week ending March 20, 2020
Compared to last week baled hay sold steady. Bulk alfalfa cubes sold
10.00 higher, sun-cured pellets steady. Demand for alfalfa cubs remains
very good week in and week out. This meal ready to eat for livestock is
pretty easy to handle in the 50 lbs bags and easy to feed. Demand for
good or better quality hay remains across the state. This type of hay is
in short supply. However, there is still some of the fair and utility
testing RFV hay around the state. Even though the calendar says today is
the first day of spring one would think it’s still winter as snow and
cold winds are prevailing in many areas. However, spring like temps are
just around the corner per most weather apps. “All prices are dollars
per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted.”
