Week ending 3/06/20
Spring in the air! Farmers were treated to a week of sunshine and little
to no moisture for the first week of March. Robins singing in the morning
and peeper frogs at night are a sure sign that a new growing season is
quickly upon us. Some farmers are either just getting started or very
close to spreading fertilizer. Several new listings of hay this week as
producers look to try to move some inventory before new crop hay arrives.
There has been some hay moving but overall it has been a pretty slow
winter for hay sales. The supply of hay is moderate, demand is light to
moderate, and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture
has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed,
or to view the directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for
listings of hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b. and
per ton unless specified and on most recent reported sales.
