Compared to last week, prices were mostly steady. Activity and demand moderate to good in all classes. Growers are reporting that moisture has hindered harvest of hay and thus has decreased movement and quality throughout the state. The NASS Colorado Crop Progress and Condition report for the week ending October 15, 2017 states that Pasture and Range conditions were rated 5 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 14 percent excellent. Alfalfa crop condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Alfalfa third cutting is 97 percent complete and fourth cutting is 45 percent complete. All prices reported are FOB at the stack or barn unless otherwise noted. Prices reflect load lots of hay.
