Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

   Compared to last week:  Alfalfa prices continue to hold at steady levels on very lightly
reported sales this past week.  Demand and interest in Eastern South Dakota moderate at best,
with better demand coming from West River.  Recent large rain falls across much of of the state
in the past week have brought harvest to a near standstill.  All hay and straw sold by the 
ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.

   Alfalfa:  Supreme:  Large Squares, 200.00.  Premium to Supreme:  Large Squares, 150.00.
Good:  Large Squares, 140.00-150.00.  Fair:  Large Squares, 120.00; Large Rounds, Old Crop 105.00.
Utility to Fair:  Large Squares & Rounds, 85.00-90.00.

   Sun-cured Alfalfa pellets:  15 pct 165.00; 17 pct 170.00.  Alfalfa Meal: 17 pct 175.00.

   Alfalfa/Grass Mix:  Premium:  Large Squares, 140.00-150.00.

   Grass:  Premium:  Small Squares, 5.00 per bale.  Good:  Large Rounds, Old Crop 130.00.
Fair:  Large Rounds, 100.00.

   Straw:  Large Squares, 110.00.  Large Rounds, 90.00.

   Cornstalks:  Large Rounds, 45.00 Old Crop
