Week ending 10/20/2017 Despite what seemed to be a good start to fall harvest corn harvest has actually fallen slightly behind the five year average after moisture delays mostly in the north half of the state over the last couple of weeks. Stock water supplies in the south east and south central now have larger percentages in short to very short than adequate to surplus. That is very concerning for this time of year. State wide pasture conditions are rated mostly fair to good. But those same regions that are short on water also have much less and lower quality forage as well. Hay supplies are mostly adequate. Hay supplies are moderate, demand is light and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b. and per ton unless specified and on most recent reported sales price listed as round bales based generally on 5x6 bales with weights of approximately 1200-1500 lbs).
