All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack. Compared to last week: Alfalfa and grass hay sold mostly steady. Demand mostly moderate as recent rains across much of the eastern half of the state has alleviated some of the Drought Conditions and green grass is being seen in many East River pastures. Interest remains moderate to good, especially for lower quality cow hay, however higher testing dairy quality hay has started to receive additional interest. The weather pattern this summer has made it very challenging at times to get hay put up in a timely manner due to summer showers, heavy dews and high humidty. US Drought Monitor Map released on Aug 17th, has 89.5 percent of the state in some degree of moisture deficit with 5.75 percent experiencing Extreme Drought.
