Compared to last week: Hay prices sold generally steady. Demand was mostly moderate on mostly light to moderate supplies and slow to moderate market activity. With weaker cattle prices seen the last two weeks, demand has noticeably lightened as both ranchers and backgrounders shop around for hay. Hay prices are deeply divided based on FOB location, with lower prices seen in Western Montana and higher prices seen closer to the drought stricken areas of Eastern Montana. Grass hay sold fully steady on mostly moderate demand for light supplies. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB unless otherwise noted.
