Weekly Texas Hay Report

   Compared to last report:  All classes of large bales of hay traded 
steady to 15.00 higher.  Demand was good as most of the state remains dry 
and in much need of rain.  Buyers scrambled to find hay and stock up 
while producers wait for more rain to benefit their second cuttings.  
Rising fuel prices are also to blame for the continued rise of delivered 
prices of hay.  Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where 
noted.

Panhandle/High Plains:
   Alfalfa: Large Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme 250.00-280.00; 
   Good to Premium 210.00-250.00.
   Small Bales: Delivered: Premium 264.00-315.00, 8.00-9.50 per 
   bale. 
   Alfalfa/Oat Mix: Small Bales: FOB: 8.00 per bale.
   Ground Alfalfa: Delivered to feedlots: 170.00-190.00; calf 200.00-
   225.00. 
   Wheat Hay: Large Bales: Delivered: 150.00-185.00.   
    Small Bales: Delivered: 6.25-8.50 per bale.
   Coastal Bermuda: Large Bales: Delivered: 160.00-180.00, 80.00-90.00 
    per bale.
