Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 8,613/6,452 Last week: 8,448/6,260 Last year: 10,231/3,444
Hay market trade was slow, demand was slow, and prices steady. Most hay and
forage pricing stayed steady, although there remains a softer undertone to
grinder hay and grass hays due to lower quality and high abundance. While the
autumnal equinox is rapidly approaching, Mother Nature is having trouble letting
go of the summer. Hot, dry and windy weather was the norm this past week for
many Kanas areas. The southwest region remains in abnormally dry (D0) to
moderate drought (D1) conditions, with D0 at 13 pct. and D1 near 2 pct. If you
have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the services of
the Internet Hay Exchange: www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
