Wyoming Hay Summary

Week ending Sep 13, 2019

Compared to last week hay sold fully steady to firm. Demand was
moderate to good from local buyers with very good demand from out of
state buyers. There are loads of small squares getting shipped half way
across the USA for horse owners in several eastern states. One of the
four letter words describing the weather that many hate to hear has
arrived in the higher elevations of WY. Several reports that “snow” has
fallen in the Wind River Mountains and other mountain ranges across
western WY in the last couple of days. Also, rain has been reported in
the Riverton and Powell areas halting several outside activities. A lot
of reports of lower testing hay available, very limited supply of 150 and
above RFV reports from contacts. Note: “All prices are dollars per ton
FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted.”
