Week ending Sep 06, 2019
Compared to last week hay sold steady. Demand was light to moderate to
good from local and out of state buyers. Some producers are waiting to
start on third and others are thinking about starting on fourth in a few
areas of the state. A lot of reports of lower testing hay available, very
limited supply of 150 and above RFV reports from contacts. The water
supply on the Goshen irrigation district should reach most landowners
this week as repairs have been made to the damaged tunnels. Monitoring
and testing for stability continues on the recent repairs of the tunnels.
Warmer than normal temperatures across most of the state has helped hay
dry and for producers to bale straw from recent barley harvest. Note:
“All prices are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless
otherwise noted.”
